This is bad news, Joe. I have been using FSAs for quite a few years now, but it has only been the last three years that I have been using them to help pay for my kids orthodontia bills.

FSAs are absolutely perfect for braces because most employer insurance plans cap orthodontia payouts to a ridiculously low lifetime max (most I've seen are in the neighborhood of $2000 - which doesn't put a dent in the overall bills.

Needless to say, if that limit is capped at $2500 per year I will be more than a little upset.

Thanks for the heads up.

I really hope they don't pass this into law. It only hurts taxpayers who are already paying through the nose for healthcare.

We are getting a consult for braces this week for my oldest, I guessed at the amount we'd have to pay for this year and next, hoping that the FSA covers it.
